Dior Maison unveils a 14-piece llection with Dimore

SILVIA RIVOTELLA

Already one of the biggest brands in the world, fashion house Dior has extended its reach into the interiors sphere. The French house chose Salone del Mobile to reveal their wares, which are a collaboration with Milanese designers Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran of Dimore Studio.

Founded in Milan in 2003 Dimore Studio are a design world favourite and always one of the most highly anticipated and evocative exhibitions in Milan. It was a smart move on the part of Dior to tap them for this first foray into the interiors world. The French house gave the studio carte blanche on the 14 piece collection.

These objets for the home include vases, an ashtray, a cubic lighter and a tray - all part of a collection called Cubisme - an umbrella stand called Ceci n'est pas un vase, and a Basket series to evoke Dior's love of the cane-woven chairs that he used for guests when showing his collections. The identity of Christian Dior runs throughout, with reference to his artist friends Magritte, DalĂ and Picasso clear in the pieces.

Crafted from plexiglass, rattan and metal alloys (gold, silver and bronze - the house identity of Dior), the pieces are truly beautiful objects. The stand out being a chandelier formed of gold petals. The collection is available exclusively by special order for one year only.
